Is this an engineering sample? The AMD 486 samples I know all have different print. This one looks like a production part just with ES added.

I'm really not the right person to comment on this, in a way.
But I do know that for a sample chip, it's release date seems awefully late for an SV8B

Doesn't it has "SAMPLE" marking on the back ?

Doh! Never considered they would make samples of every new revision. I thought it was kinda only for an entirely new product line.
