when i first built this pc i installed a i3 cpu, i am trying to upgrade to a i7-870 LGA 1156 when i tried to installed it i turned the pc on and the monitor, mouse and keyboard do not power on. I tried updating my bios and that still did not work i dont know what the problem is.
mobo: msi p55-cd53
CPU: intel i3 530
HD: 1tb caviar black
RAM: 4gb croisair
OS: win7-32bit
video card:Radeon HD 5700 |

Try cleaning a contact points on processor (not a socket! ) by i.e. alcohol.

| spec is a SLBJG, i thought the chip was defective at first..so i sent it back to newegg and they sent me a replacement one and that one does the same thing |

| i dont know what to do, its aggrivating me i done everything..i updated bios i checked and made sure everything is properly inplace.......if the board is OEM which im not sure if it is...if u install a CPU for the 1st time on the board is that the one you are stuck with? |

No, you can change but sometimes CPU support list is limited in OEM BIOS. What I can recommend you is try with different RAM or put in only one memory stick in different banks. I have had a same problem and that was memory incompatibility. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |
