According to this page:
http://gentiane.org/~miod/apollo/dn300/
SC87842 is a CPU, possibly custom marked 68010. Part number suffix on many custom Motorola chips is the same as on production parts, i.e. "L" is the ceramic DIP package, and "10" is the frequency.

Thank you for the info. I can see the SC87842L8 chip clearly. It is the same like mine but not "L10". So, this makes it early 1980's custom smaple of Motorola 68010 (10MHz) CPU. Not being stamped 68010 makes it very rare.. I hope!! |

Hello,
the SC87842L10 is a ordinary Motorola 68010 @ 10 MHz. It came from a Apollo Domain workstation (model 300 or 200). I have a similar one (not a sample) in a vintage Apollo Domain 200 motherboard.

Sorry, there is no such a thing as Apollo Domain 200. In fact, DN550 was only one shipped with 68010 @ 10 MHz..DN300 & DN320 had 68010 @ 8 MHz.
see here..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Computer
Also, I do not believe that SC87842L10 is a ordinary Motorola 68010. It had to be made and labeled custom for a reason!!
Here is a ordinary Motorola 68010.

No, Motorola VERY often labeled parts with custom numbers at customer request.
Very rarely do these parts differ in ANY way from a standard marked one.
If you ordered enough of them Motorola would have been happy to label you a 68010 as 'SCCPU1555' _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
