Hi, I discovered a ceramic CPU inside a laptop the other day and was quite surprised Very Happy Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of any lists of makes and models of laptops that have the ceramic (gold) chips inside. Or perhaps someone might know from memory what a load of them would be?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
it's strange today, but it wasn't so unusual 15 years ago. I well remember low-end Hyundai laptops with TI and Cyrix 486DLC ceramic chips and even with ordinary 486DX2 chips.

yeah, well Im not good enough for a ''the'' just yet!!! LOL

thanks for the replies guys. I should be able to do some research with that info Very Happy

So would i be on the look out for any Pentuim II or older??? Or do I need to go back further as a starting point?

Its just that Im going to be getting thousands and thousands of these to sort through over the next few months, so if i can get pics of the models to stick on the wall and keep a look out for then I shouldnt miss many (cause it would not be possible to open them all up, so I need a way of honing in on the right ones) Wink

The AMD K6, Mobile Duron, and Athlon 4 were also mobile processors with ceramic packaging.

Ceramic Intel 486 LowPower was "common" in portable computers.
