Hey guys,
I get a "CPU over voltage error" during start up and computer keeps on restarting every 10 mins or so when I do get into windows. I checked voltages and temperature in Setup and found:
Vcore: 1.488V
3.3V: 3.344V
5V: 5.080V
12V: 11.673V
but CPU temp is at 89 deg Celsius. That seems way too high? I'm not overclocking or anything, this just started happenning.
Processor is intel pentium 4 - 3.0GHz, asus p4p800s motherboard
Any suggestions? |

Yes temperature is way to high. Suggestions :
1) clean old thermal grease by alcohol and apply new. Arctic Ceramique is what I recommend.
2) clean heatsink from a dust
What brand of power supply you have ? There is a bit of undervoltage on 12V line _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

| If the 1.488 volts CPU core voltage is being applied to a Northwood 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 then that`s alright. If the 1.488 volts CPU core voltage is being applied to a Prescott or later processor then you`ll have a hard time getting it`s insides cool even with good fans and fins. Toss the motherboard if so. Use good fans, fins, and CPU grease (Zinc oxide plus silicone lubricant will make good coolant grease by the pint. You can make your own.), and don`t fan the CPU with a very hot an air source. Only 11.6 volts on the + 12 volts line will do fine. It`s pretty average and not likely to disturb anything except a weak hard drive. |
