So YOU'RE the one out bidding me on these!
I have that black overdrive keychain also, complete with the same scorched dot in the middle. What do you think that is?

I think this is how they (Intel and other companies) mark bad dies on a wafer. I may be mistaken... As for the chip I think it's a Pentium MMX Overdrive - PODPMT60X150 or faster.

Yes, I have an entire 8" wafer with uncut dies that all have red dots... which is why paid only $20 for it; the dies were all auto-tested as defective. I also have a highly polished but _unprocessed_ 8" wafer. Both are pretty impressive looking. I got both for a total of $26.95 (not including shipping) from here:

Just do a search for "wafers." I have no financial or any other association with this outfit. I've just ordered a lot of "electronic stuff" from them over the years. |
