A friend of mine knows a dentist that can laser very small pieces.
I gave him a chip with three broken pins and he repaired them.
Of course It is visible but much better than any soldering I've seen (eg. that 1701 months ago on ebay).
I am working on a method to recover the gold surface...

DO YOU repair chips?

instead of opening a a new topic...
done that during the last few days

BGA
about 10 balls were missing
sanded off remaining copper
i calculated that 0,3 mm of 1 mm diameter soldering wire will be the right size (1,27mm pitch) so i cut off the smallest pieces i could and placed them on the pads covered with flux
hot air gun in 90° angle didnt blow them away until they melted

PLCC
another plcc part donated a similiar pin, similiar to the bga i melted a small piece of solder where the pin was broken off (actually a little inside the resin)
placed the replacement pin where it should be and heated it up.
done. (after a few tries with soldering iron and hot air)

DIP (AMD P80C287-10)
in the DIP case the pin (nc anyway) was broken off where it gets thin.
i cut off another one and after some tries i figured out that placing a piece of cardboard between the resin and the row of pins lets me place the new pin where i want it.
applied flux and pushed the pin towards the stub and connected them with a small amount of melted solder tin on the soldering iron

Nice Smile

You can actually buy solder balls for BGA re-balling repair. Companies also offer this service.
