hi guys im an fng here seeking help! Rolling Eyes
well i have a laptop Toshiba A500 with :
cpu: core 2 duo p7450 2.13ghz socket p(478)
gpu: nvidia gt 230m.
after doing some searching it seems that p7450 can easily be upgraded to any p series processors and most of t series and a confirmation from apro would be nice however!(google can be confusing in serious stuff Laughing)and i have some questions:

-Is it necessary to check if m cpu is "sticked" to the mobo first?(in other world are all laptop cpus upgradable ?)

-would a quad core fit or i'm dreaming too much?

-if mine is can i go for a t9900?(if not witch is the best of p series can i buy?

-are gpus also upgradable? if so would a gtx 285m(200 series) work?

-will it blend? Laughing (could'nt help my self, seriously ,since i'm bashing you guys with all these questions)
thanks.
any help would be appreciable

Not all of them are upgradeable. There are BGA processors, and those are soldered on a motherboard. Fortunately, P7450 was only produced in micro-PGA package, and it should be upgradeable.

It could. Use CPU-Z or similar program to see what chipset you have. Since your laptop supports 1066 MHz FSB, I suspect it's a PM45 or GM45, and in this case it supports quad-cores.

Yes, it can, if you have PM45 or GM54 chipset.

I have no idea.

Yes, I meant GM45.

You shouldn't, if you upgrade to T9900. That chip has the same TDP as the T5250. Quad-cores have higher TDP, so they will run hotter under full load or close to full load.

Before you upgrade make sure that your BIOS supports the new processor, if not then update it.

I have an A500 too.

You can upgrade the cpu, I was told they are all socket types.
Just be careful with the TDP as the A500 has a really poor fan...

They are centrino2 platforms, GM45.
