Hi...

Some days ago I purchased an old Samsung Sens 505 notebook that has inside this ¿rare? CPU. It is working and Everest Ultimate shows that it runs at 100Mhz (33x3).

I don't find any information about this notebook and don't know how to configure it because Windows-Me has not drivers for it, and it causes the system works very very slowly.
Cyrix Media-GX has a graphic controller included in (¿am I wrong?) and I don't know how to do for configure it. Now it is working like VGA standard 16 color and Everest don't identifies the graphic card. I only know that video memory (2MB) is shared with the memory system (32MB).

¿Could somebody help me to find drivers for this notebook? It's the first of the 35 notebooks in my collection wich breaks my head. Samsung web has no info about it.

Thanks in advance.

- no, you are right.

- dump ME - complete junk. Use (w98se) win2k instead or even XPPro lite versions, much better experience and USB support (at least you could use usb pcmcia adapter if your laptop has such slot)

- like they say "not so common" they would not call it rare.

- what google says in regards?
also, this cpu has lots stuff built in, so basically if you would find drivers for any CYRIX MEDIA GX system you would have it working.

perhaps this would help:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=cyrix+media+gx#sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&source=hp&q=cyrix+media+gx+drivers&pbx=1&oq=cyrix+media+gx+drivers&aq=f&aqi=g-sv1&aql=1&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=1735l4359l0l4967l8l7l0l0l0l0l155l862l2.5l7l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=e97cfd05dfef89c0&biw=1920&bih=965

p.s. just out of curiosity is it soldered in? (if yes, pins or balls?)

I'd like to install WinXp Lite but the notebook has only 32MB RAM and with 100Mhz processor it would be a turtle. I have an IBM Thinkpad 760XL (Pentium-MMX 166 with 104MB RAM) and it's a torture with WinXP.

I chose WinMe because I have an USB PCMCIA Card and WinMe is much more compatible with pendrives than Win98 and its universal drivers.

Google doesn't know the existence of my Samsung Sens 505 notebook, when searching about it appears nothing.

I've tried installing about seven drivers for Cyrix MediaGX downloaded from DriverGuide but anyone works. In Win98 I got install the video driver, but when I did it the sound card dissapeared and now there is no way for install it.

Yes, the chip is soldered onboard but I don't know how. I think it has pins, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for your answer.

- well, there are drivers (cant remember from the top of my brain) but there are drivers for w98se with normal USB support (was it some sort of an MS patch ..or may be a custom driver from one of the developers, but it widely known)
-other option Linux, with normal support of USB and eating much less resourcesand yet, still, with GUI

p.s. call me names, but i still would not acknowldge ME as choice.
