Web site for SUPPORT CHIPS?

Hey Y'all,...

Is there a specific site, that is like CPU-WORLD, only for CPU SUPPORT CHIPS and CHIPSET-types? It would be ESPECIALLY HELPFUL if it had "vintage " CPU-Chipsets and CPU-Support chips.

I don't think there is a single website, dedicated to support chips, and complete at the same time. Chip directory ( http://www.chipdir.nl/ ) had some information on chips, which was useful for identification. ChipXRef ( http://www.chipxref.com/ ) also has some data on logic and other parts. There are Digichip ( http://www.digchip.com/ ), and different datasheet<whatever> sites, that also have tons of data. None of these sites are oriented toward collectors. Chip collector sites have some information on support chips, but it's either on very basic level, or they don't cover many families.

If you're into Intel chips then you may be interested in "The Collector’s Guide to Vintage Intel Microchips" ( http://www.cpushack.com/2010/01/14/the-collectors-guide-to-vintage-intel-microchips/ ). This guide includes information on Intel vintage processors, as well as early support chips and memory.

Speaking of the guide, I found very old article in Dr. Dobb's, that I didn't see before:

I have a NEW problems ... I am trying to find WHERE a specific processor was MADE (AMD A1100AMS3B) ... Can I find this question out from the STEPPING CODES <?>

I don't think you can determine it from the stepping. It could be possible to determine it from the serial number, that is, if we had a database of serial numbers. We don't have it, and building one is very time consuming.
