So I have a Labtop Presario v2000 and I'm trying to upgrade the CPU. I design websites so this computer isn't cutting it anymore. Wish I could buy a newer computer but I'm in school and only have a part time job. Anyway, I have a AMD Turion 64 Mobile technology ML-32 processor. (1.8 GHz)

This link shows the specs for my processor and underneath it shows the 10 different AMD Turion 64 processors. I was wondering if they would all work with my computer. If they do I would go like to go with the fastest. (AMD Turion 64 ML-44 2.4 GHz)

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Turion%2064%20Mobile%20technology%20ML-32%20-%20TMDML32BKX4LD.html

Thanks.

same stepping & thermal design power.. so the board should accept it no problems
and the ML-44 has a larger cache so that will be a bonus

I noticed that my CPU is labeled as 24 watt and the one I want is 35 watt. Should I worry about that or no?

might have to get Genna to answer that... as he has them both listed as 35W Confused

EDIT >> MT series (24W) is the low power version (so CPUid program has it listed incorrectly.. should be MT-32

therefore keeping to same power type the MT-40 is the highest upgrade

Maybe you have MT-32, and not ML-32? Take a look at the part number on your chip.

Oh yeah my mistake. I looked at the link and thought my current processor was the MT-32 (24 W) But I have the ML -32 (35 watt) so I'm good. The watt is the same as the ML-44 so i'm good. Thanks.

There is MT-37 for sale on eBay US for $118. ML-44 is about $15 - $20 cheaper.

Not bad. Definitely worth the upgrade for the type of work I do on my computer. Thank you both.
