It only shows up as 1100 GHZ and it is 2,2 GHZ. I know the board cant use the whole cpu power, but I want the maximum.
Can anybody tell me the best settings in KT7A bios for this cpu?
I'm a newbie with clocking so do it in babysteps Very Happy
Thanks for any help

the KT7A officially only supports 100 & 133 FSB processors up to (0.18micron) Palomino core.

If you have a Version 1.3 board you may have a chance the board will accept a 0.13micron processor

but you will have to use the manual FSB & Multiplier settings in the Soft Menu bios
using 133FSB & max multiplier (x12.5) you will only get the CPU up to 1.66GHZ

the FSB can be overclocked up to 155MHz but then you have issues with other things on the bus like memory & video card.

If you have anything earlier than a version 1.3 board.. then dont even bother
and your best CPU choice is a Athlon 1400 (non XP)

Thanks, guess it was a waste buying that new cpu. I will try your suggestion if I have the Version 1.3 board. Where do I see which board version I have?

Look around in corners. Usually it's located near the middle of the board.

There are cheap bargains on ebay with the whole ram+cpu+mobo combos.
Give a look and see if you can find something which isn't 10 years ago tech Wink

Have fun!

it should be on a sticker on the last card slot

but thinking on it.. seeing it boots the Sempron... it is likely to be a Rev 1.3

I have 4 1.3 Rev boards (Raid & Non Raid) but only 2 will boot 0.13micron CPUs. Dont think the 1.0 or 1.1 version boards ever managed to work with 0.13 CPUs
best I have managed to run on the 1.3 board is a Athlon XP 2100+ by using the highest multiplier and overclocking the FSB (145MHz)
from memory there are settings to run the memory & video card at either a 1/4 or 1/3 less than bus speed to stop issues with them

very good board for its time... but old tech now.
I used to use them to run some old ISA data control cards
