first off, Merry Christmas everyone
and secondly, with my christmas money im looking to upgrade my current cpu
problem is im not 100% sure if it will work
my mobo is an Asrock N68-S3-UCC and im looking to get a AMD phenom II x6 1090T. I checked the compatibility list and i know that the 1090T isnt on the list, but i asked my cousin who is suppose-ably better with computers than me, and he said if i update my bios first, then the cpu SHOULD work fine.
just seeking out confirmation on this becuase i dont wanna go wasting $150 for the cpu not to work :\
anyways that's enough of me blabbering xD - Help would be much appreciated though. |

The motherboard only supports 95W cpus.
The 1090 is a 125W cpu, so no joy. Your cousin has his life saved...
Be sure to check the cpu code so to buy one that is 95W.
(listed on asrock site)
Have a nice day! |

Hold on! If you're into gaming then you need one with an L3 cache (good for newer games). Otherwise that 840 will do. There's a 95w gaming Phenom but it's hard to find. Check Phenom II X4 960T. Downside is you'll not be able to unlock the extra two cores since it would require a higher board. No unlocks it is just fine. HTH |
