oh duh. The misprinted SY016 threw me off.
Maybe I should just go to bed. These tired eyes just can't handle the squinting any more.

I don't know if it's a fake... I have about 20 that use this same font. I have some that also show a clear '6'

I have about 20 more like this, but the '6' on the top is much clearer. The bottoms on these show the 'b' also.

I couldn't imagine Intel creating such bad prints. Perhaps you have about 20 fakes ...

Could be. Where could I find more info on fake Pentium 1s? - Or general fake CPU info for that matter...

There are a lot of threads about fake CPCUs in the forums. Just type "fake" into the search box (at the top right of every forum page) and click search, and you will get a list of all of every thread where the word fake is used Smile

I think your SY01b is a fake. Beside mis-marked "b", several other characters are poorly marked: all "0" (zero) characters look strange, "R" in a circle doesn't look like "R", the second line should say "#=127", and it has some weird character instead of "#". Also, "M" should fit completely within a circle, with a small gap around it. There is pretty big difference between top "947" date code and the bottom "912" date, but I don't know if that's normal or not.

I have a bunch of these strange CPUs. I'll take a picture of the lot and upload for inspection sometime this evening.

Maybe I should open one up.. I have some genuine SY016s to compare to.

If they were remarked from Pentium 133 or Pentium 150 then you won't see the difference, the dies will be identical. Can you post a picture of a few of these processors? I'd like to compare the markings.
