|
|
Hi!
Can anyone somehow confirm this is infact a real Intel P4040, I've searched the net hi & low trying to find one similar looking with no luck.
The differences I notice from every other picture of these style P4040's is...
1 - The location of the copy right logo.
2 - The second line of numbers (the W1140148) is 8 digits long, I've only seen up to 5 digits long I believe they were.
Everything else looks right, the chip, the 3 holes on top, the rectangular dip on top, the corners the sides, the style of pins, the stamp on the bottom, the square corners, etc...
I've only seen the D4040 with this same style writing with the same number of actual digits in that second line, and placement of the copy right logo.
I'm told this came out of a "Fluke Frequency Counter Timer" that was made in the 70's, even though the date code on the back says the chip was made in the 10th week of 81!
Thanks alot.

looks good to me
layout of print fits within normal variation between production plants
the lot code or stepping code is independent of package.. so you see examples in more than one package
the 4040 is found on a option card in the flukes.. normally installed in factory but some were installed at a later date
if you can find the serial number of the fluke.. i can tell you if they lied about when it was made
must of been a common laminate bench top finish at one time.. seen it before in pics _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Considering the 4040 CPU was produced from 1974 through 1981 you may have one of the last P4040 produced. _________________ The two most common elements on Earth are oxygen and stupidity. |

Thanks for the help everyone.
There's no record of the serial number anymore, but the seller has been completely open and helpful with this, and being that at least Neon_Wa has seen these before, I'm not worried about it being a fake or anything, plus the style is consistent with D style chips with date codes around the same time, so likely one of the last produced like you said tlccomp. Guess this P series is just a lil rarer than some others, good enough for me.
Thanks again everyone.
I appreciate it. _________________ Wanted: Grey trace Intel 4004 (mala), will give grey trace and white Microsystems International MIL MF8080, PM me if interested. |
