Don't worry Neon!
Release date plus up to one year and a
2-3 year product lifespan and it will fit _________________ Ordem e Progresso |

It appears they changed the construction method during its production period
some appear to be made of 2 ceramic layers.. some only one
will be interesting to see what the die side looks like, as there is lack of pics of the die side _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Be careful when opening this beast! I failed on mine working
with a saw...
By the way I have some doubts that this really is a Muskie,
please look here:
http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=140949#140949#
Paolo has a A25-board and this Muskies do look more ancient
and are Muskies for sure! _________________ Ordem e Progresso |

looking thru IBM stuff.. they often produced an upgrade processor for a lot of their systems
so I dont doubt these were made for a Muskie board.. I think they are the next generation of sorts made to upgrade the older Muskies _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

That would make sense and explains the differences
of the package and cooler.
But it is somewhat unsatisfying not to know what
the cores are exactly... it could be speed enhanced
next generation Muskies or Power-CPUs with a bridge...
(Ok this probably not because AS/400-processors are more
optimized for I/O-operations than for crunching numbers). _________________ Ordem e Progresso |

the problem is that most of these "upgrade" style of processors have not been officially released with any pomp & ceremony.
where I have seen mention of them are in IBM updates supplied directly to their customers
and most are limited to just saying contact your local IBM representative for additional information
even in more modern systems.. the info on upgrade processors is very limited _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Do you have any die pieces?
could work out what manufacturing process was used and that might narrow it down
