I think this board came out of an IBM 6611 Network processor.
Anyone seen a processor like this one? I need to take the heat
sink off to see the top but it's supposed to be a RISC based processor.

It's a Power-1 Rios 9 processor board
more information here

under the heatsink there is the I/O mcm, not a RISC CPU

interesting. I made the assumption that on a "processor card" the chip
under the heat sink would be the processor. Cool

I wonder which chip is the processor on this processor card?

its probably more a chip-set arrangement rather than an individual CPU

Right, there are

1 x I/O
1 x FPU
1 x IU
1 x SCU storage control unit
1 x I Cache
2 x D Cache
1 x Clock chip

there is a single chip CPU inplemation of this chipset called RSC (Risc single chip)
this is a picture

I will try and remove the heat sink and see what the top of
the chip looks like and post a picture for all to see. Smile
