Curious if anyone has an opinion on this. I know that all of these chips exist but I am missing half of them. I believe these are Intel’s rarest chips:

X8008
G8008
C4040 Purple
C4040 Left Ground Strap
8080B
8080-8
8008
8008-1
MC8080
C4004 W #5 & Ground Strap

Interesting to note that the C4004 grey didn't even make my list Shocked Also interesting to note that there are chips that are not as rare as these that have sold for more money.

Does anyone have any of these for trade Very Happy

Well, it's hard to judge market value of those chips, because they are too rare that most people (and chip collectors) don't know about them; it's not like 400 ct. diamond that is both rare and recognized by general public. My girl friend once said that she would step on my white/grey-traced C4004 without a blink.

If one of those appears on eBay as 7-day auction, its price will be determined by the top two bidders (and their monetary constraint). A 80386-16 cost about US$6; the rarity of anyone of those listed chips is more than 1000 times of 80386-16's rarity, but I don't see any possibility of any of those chips going above US$700.00.

CPU collecting is not a popular business.... well.. at least for now... in future, I think we will see CPU collection shops just like stamp & coin shops.

In my opinion these chips will go for $700 or higher on eBay:
X8008
C4040 Purple
8080-8
MC8080

They will if you bid against me Laughing

I would have to add the X8080 you showed me to the top 10 list. I don't know if it still exist but I definately would bid on it...

I'm surprised that the 8080 (no pre or post-fix) is not listed here. Maybe there are a lot of samples around...

Haha, it'll go past the 5 digits if I ever find it Very Happy
But you guys gotta be careful that they're not fake, some douche bag could be watching this thread seeing how interested we are and at what price, what does he have to lose if we find out it's fake? An ebay and paypal account?
No documents, no chance of working (Since some are engineering samples, the real ones may not even work anyway), it's a real gamble. I seriously won't pay more than $400 for any ES that old, paperwork means everything.

I have two of them and know of a couple more. I am holding on to one of them to trade for something I don't already have.
