>hey guys im kinda new to upgrading laptop cpu's. i looked on intel's site and it seems like my upgrade will "work" but the voltages are completely different.
>here's my current cpu in the laptop: Core Duo T2050, Socket 479 mPGA, i945GM chipset.
>websites say this chip is a 478 so idk why it shows up as 479.
>cpu that i have from a scrapped laptop: T5750 SLA4D.
>i think its a core2duo 2ghz and i also found out a 478 cpu will work just fine in a 479 board.
>someone help me out here please

T5750 will not work in your laptop. T2050 is a socket M processor. T5750 requires socket P, which is not electrically compatible with socket M.

I don't know about your specific laptop, but the chipset itself supports all socket M processors, including those with 667 MHz FSB. The fastest CPU for the chipset is T7600 and T7600G

You can't go from a 533FSB to a 667FSB, a key pin is moved on the socket. You're stuck at 533FSB. Fastest chip with that FSB would be a T2450 I believe. |

I tested both 533 and 667 MHz processors in the same socket. Perhaps you mean that it's not possible to go from 667MHz to 800 MHz FSB...

I remember back in the day I tried to swap chips on an old Core Duo T2050 (533FSB) Toshiba to a 667FSB Core Duo and it physically wouldn't fit. I didn't give it much thought and just figured the keypin was moved because of the FSB. I *thought* it would've worked, because the chipset did support the FSB, but it wouldn't fit. I still have the laptop, but it's such a giant pain to tear it apart to the point of swapping chips, i'm not sure I want to bother revisiting it now. |
