Simple question, just as the subject says. . .
Is there a socket 478 CPU that supports XD?
(In case your curious, I have a crap web server I'm trying to harden a bit on the cheep if I can. If such a CPU does exist Id like to know which. That way I won't have to go out and buy a whole new system just for NX/XD. I don't have my hopes up though. Nor is it that important to me. So feel free to crush my dreams... LOL) |

Interesting. It also has EM64T tech...
The 533Mhz FSb doesn't *REALLY* mater to me. That's what I'm using right now anyway and it's running fine. I don't need a performance boost, I need a security enhancement. *BUT*... I do *LIKE* performance boosts to be sure (doesn't every one?). So anything that's faster is better.
So, geeks.com has a SL6WK, which is a 3Ghz 800Mhz FSB Prescott core and should be slightly newer than the one you mentioned. But it is not listed as XD. Do think it is? And do you think there is a possibility that there are other 478 CPU's that have XD that are somehow not listed?
Thanks for your time. |

SL6WK is Northwood
There maybe other 478s with XD but they are probably ones only supplied to OEMs and not listed in Intels public database
So testing maybe only way to tell
Has a look at CPU-World's database.. SL8JX is only one listed with EMT64
had a look at other G1 stepping Prescotts
SL8JZ 3GHz/1M/800
SL8K2 3.2GHz/1M/800
SL8K4 3.4GHz/1M/800
not listed with XD but maybe doing a bit of research on them _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

I wasn't suggesting buying one, I was just using it to confirm that SL8JX is a 478 chip, not 775. Doesn't support VT-x though.
And a 64 bit 478? I've never personally seen one, ever. Can anyone provide a S-spec of one of these Loch Ness CPU's? |
