Thought I would post a few of the other C3s I got in the lot containing the ES
most are production but there are a few other gems in there

As they came from a testing facility most dont have any top markings.. but very nice anyway Smile

First is a wafer sample from same production lot that the 600A ES on chipdb.com is from
http://www.chipdb.org/img-cyrix-via-iii-500a-mhz-c58-es-6135.htm

Second is an unfinished Ezra-T (C5M) processor

Third is a completely unmarked processor.. hopefully I will get some time soon to test and find out if Samuel or Samuel 2

They have different gold points at corners too. I love VIA CPUs from that era. Congratulations.

Thanks mate Smile

I am constructing a database on C3s.. and thought about noting the pin 1 marker.. but decided to leave.
I may revisit as I have kept a list of where each processor has come from

Unlike pin 1 markers on other chips.. I have a feeling there is a pattern with C3s

Also doing the db.. it made me realise that there are quite a few that dont understand the differences between non A & A version C3s Crying or Very sad
some thinking 100 & 133FSB is the difference Confused

Things I have learnt.. is when markings changed
via CYRIX III >> VIA cyrix III was week 01 2001
VIA cyrix III >> VIA C3 changed week 18 / 19 2001
and ring around VIA started week 42 2002 but wasn't consistent until week 07 2003

decided to test this interesting looking C3 ES

on boot-up kept saying it was 600MHz (120MHz x 5.0)
but no matter what I set the bus or multiplier to it ran at 66MHz x 9 (600MHz)

the interesting thing apart from unusual number of caps
is that 4 out of 5 CPUid programs listed the L2 cache on the Ezra-T as 16Mb Laughing

Interesting, I haven't seen "Cache is disabled" for any AMD and Intel processor. I'm going to fix the identification program (server part of the program). I think if the cache is disabled then the program shouldn't display the size and other information for the cache.

tested a stock standard 600AMHz VIA C3

http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/CPUID.pl?CPUID=19069

L2 cache incorrect and listed as disabled

CPUid also came up with same values
while wcpuid & pc-wizard came up with active 64k instead of disabled 16M
