I added simple web page, that displays one month or two-month calendar for date codes in format YYWW, i.e. where two-digit year is followed by two-digit week number:

http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/members/calendar.pl

Here is how it looks for today's week:

http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/members/calendar.pl?DATECODE=1225&PROCESS=Show

It also has an option to show full year calendar. It uses ISO standard for week numbers, but I'm not sure if all (any?) semiconductor companies use it. Please let me know if you encounter any problems with it.

will have to find the few week 53s I have and find how they fit in
and whether that makes the next year slide back a week

It could be US Standard, where, I believe, weeks start on Sunday. So, in US calendar the 53th week in 2000 started on December 31st. I think I'm going to add "US standard" option to the page.

what I am not sure of.. is a week 52 become week 1 part way through the week
or does week 52 extend into the next year until end of that week.

I have only seen week 53 on Intel & AMD chips... so other manufacturers may use a different calendar or just not work that week Laughing

just had a quick look for other week 53s I have
SL4CG 3053..... >> 2000
AMD-K6-2/500AFX 0053APBW >> 2000
AMD-K6-2/500AFX 0053APCW >> 2000
SX948 L453 >> 1994

so both 2000 & 1994 had 53 weeks.. now this will confuse the issue Laughing

Was the year 2000 a leap year?
I think it was so it may have had that extra day.
I think every one hundred years a leap year is missed unless it is a Millenium.

1994 was not a leap year so would not have had the extra day.

I believe that in US the first week of the year starts from the first Sunday. If there are any year days, preceding the first Sunday, then they belong to the last week of the previous year. For example, for "0053" (don't pay attention to week numbers on the linked page, they are calculated in accordance with ISO standard):

http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/members/calendar.pl?DATECODE=0053&FULLYEAR=1&PROCESS=Show

According to US standard, the first week of year 2000 started on January 2nd. January 1st is a part of the week 52 of the previous year. Week 53 in 2000 started on December 31, and included 6 days (Jan 1 - 6) from the next year.
