Were any of the Intel Overdrive DX4-100's ever produced in write-back mode? I know the non-overdrive chips came in write-back and write-through modes, but I'm not sure about the overdrive counterparts. If there were production units, what is the S-spec? If not, were there write-back engineering samples? Thanks.
Note: I originally posted this in the Modern Chip discussion section, but after weeks of no replies, I have deleted that post and moved it here. This Information Request section is more appropriate for this type of question. |

| what would be the sense of this mode in a processor intended for upgrading old systems, usually not supporting the writeback feature? the chipset also needs to support it |

From your response, it sounds like you doubt there to be such a chip in WB mode. Does anyone have any documented information confirming the existence, or lack there of, for a WB Intel DX4 overdrive? I can think of a few reasons why such an overdrive may have been produced, however I do not wish to get into a speculative discussion. |
