So i've been reading up on the P5 class Pentiums, as there are quite a few types of the 3.3V ones that used different fabrication technologies.
From what i've read, the P54C was the inital type that went from 75 to 100MHz, fabbed on 0.6um process, 3.3Vcore. The P54CQS was supposedly the 120MHz, the lithography was shrunk to 0.35um, but the die size was the same as they wanted to keep the same pad ring size so they didn't have to change the package. Then P54CS came along at the 133MHz mark, and had the shrunk lithography, as well as a smaller die to match the smaller litho.. Then P54CS went to 200MHz, but they were all CPGA, as Pentium MMX (P55C) went even smaller litho, and added more cache and MMX.
So is this a good summary, or am I mistaken anywhere? And is it possible to tell which one a given CPGA Socket 5/7 is without taking the die lid off?? |

I was under this impression also. I could have sworn I had a P200 CPGA in my collection. I may have to do some digging when I get home. |

Genna has a CPGA 200 MHz listed, but there are no pics, no CPUID info, etc. I don't recall ever seeing one, so not sure if they are for real or just assumed. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.
