|
|
I use the search box in my browser very often, and I started noticing the lack of a search for cpu-world.com. After a quick search on google and the forum I couldn't find one, so I made one myself. If anyone is interested, you can install it from here (Firefox and IE 7+):
http://fossalta.xs4all.nl/utils/cpuworld/searchplugin.html
(it currently searches for CPU identification, but if anyone wants I can adapt it for sSpec and/or global search) _________________ I like the place to go *BOOM* |

Looks great! I can add it to the identification page if you want to.

Well that's up to you
You could also add the following code in the <head> section:
| Code: | <link rel="search" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml" title="CPU-World.com" href="cpu-world.xml">
|
It will show "Add this search engine" option in the dropdown menu when someone visits the page. Pretty much like the RSS feed. You will have to copy the cpu-world.xml (right-click -> save as) from my server though and put it next to the index.html
As for opera, it uses a different mechanism, might do that one later.
For chrome users, see text and screenshot below
- Click Tools
- Click Options
- On the basic tab click "manage" in the Search engines section
- Click Add
Enter the following:
Name: CPU-World.com
Keyword: cpu
URL: http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/IdentifyPart.pl?PART=%s
- Click OK, Close, Close
Now when you enter an url, start with cpu, chrome will give you a suggestion to start searching on cpu-world.com _________________ I like the place to go *BOOM* |

I added some tags to CPU-World's front page, many CPU pages and all S-spec pages, that do pretty much what Fossalta's plugin did. If you use Firefox or the latest IE then you can go to the CPU-World main page or CPU/S-Spec pages, and you will find two new options in the list of search engines, something like this:
- Add "Search CPU-world.com"
- Add "Identify CPU"
Select an option, and it will be added to a list of search engines in your browser.
I know that the feature doesn't work in Opera, and probably in Chrome too.
Not all CPU pages are updated yet to include new searches.

You should see two new Add "..." choices when you click on the down arrow in the browser's search box:
If you don't see them then refreshing the page in the browser may help.

Ah Now I see what you mean
Sometimes I am a bit slow on the uptake although I did not realize you could add other search engines in that area.
Thanks Genna _________________ The Older they are the Better they are. |
