So, I was asked a question and it led this this question. Has/do intel's Engineering samples s-spec always begin with Q? Are there any that don't? Are there any s-specs that begin with Q that aren't ES? Thanks.

qSpecs cover both Engineering & Qualification samples

has changed over the years but Pentium Pro & earlier
qSpec + ES = Engineering sample (most times)
qSpec + Sample = normally Qualification Sample

Pentium II onwards
ES & QS often marked the same & only with Intel documentation can tell which it is

sSpec/qSpecs didnt really come into use until late 286s & early 386
