| I got an IIT 3C87-40 NIB recently. Compared to the US version of the box the German one has completely different dimensions (is smaller, but thicker). |

There is only one way to find out, if he ever takes it out of the box and installs it, to find it does not work

Lifetime guarantee usually has some limited period warranty after product have been discontinued. So I don't think that warranty is still valid.
