Did Intel label their early chip's ES as well? I've looked for other C8085A-2's, and this looks to be the oldest. 7804 being Week 4 of 1978, correct??

I can confirm that both C8085A and C8085A-2 and even C8086 (all purple ceramic) was released as Engeneering samples.

I have a C8085A (Purple ceramic) ES - but with no date code (I guess that makes it an earlier production than 7804).

It was bought from a retired Intel Engineer that also had a C8086 (Purple ceramic) ES. I didn't buy it because I thought $110 was too expensive. I wish I had known better. This was about 8-9years ago. It was listed on eBay but was not sold. I think it was evetually sold off eBay. Did anyone here buy it?

I have never seen a C8085 ES (or a C8086 ES) either before or after that.

Looking at George Phillips latest edtion(?)
"Vintage Intel Microchips 2007 4th Edition by George M. Phillips Jr."
There is actually a picture of a C8085A-2 ES H identical to the one shown above. When is the next edition due?

I cant say I have ever seen an ES version of a C8086 either, only the R version I recently aquired.
Nor did I ever see an ES for c8085a-2 until now.
