I will soon be retireing from the Army and am looking for work
Actually, I think I have found a business oportunity that can help us all. I have been overpaying for my chips for about 4 years now through several chip brokers and I am working a deal to buy one of them out. If this works out then I will be able to get a lot of the rare chips at about a third of what I have been paying and then maybe I can pass on the savings to you all:D
How this would work would be you all tell me what chip is most wanted and then I go and look. The more buyers the cheaper the cost. The only issue is then finding a chip that everyone wants... I can tell you right now that short of someone coming along and posting some more C4004 or C4040s you won't see any of these as I bought them all about four years ago and I haven't seen any since.
What do you all think? What chip would you like me to find first? It will be about month or two before I can pull this together as I am still stationed in Korea but as soon as I get back to the states and get set up I can run with this.
Of course, if this doesn't work out, I will have to get a real job ...Would you like fries with that sir

However and whatever you get, when you create a internet searchable database include collectot-relevant information like "purple ceramic" or "grey traces", maybe a separate collector database?
Nice idea and good luck!!! |

Nice army pension and golden handshake I hope Lee!
Yes, as said, the important thing is to get a good inventory list. I'll be here to buy! |

Sounds like a great idea! I think we are a bunch here at the forum who will help you out to get you started.
On the top of my wishlist are i486 SX-16, any 486/Pentium ES

I think you should buy him out and then destroy all the chips. That way the value of the ones we have goes up!
I mean seriously, if we get about 30-40 C8086's, "inflation" will leave us done for. |
