|
|
my laptop is lenovo SL400 , GM 45 chipset , socket P
SL400 is fine to run the T9900
i am thinking about upgrade the cpu from core 2 duo to core 2 quad such as Q9000
i have heard that core 2 quad need more " electricity" to work
my question is
what will it happen if the cpu request more power than the motherboard could supply
does it just halt ?
or will it burn the board?
thx advance!
PS:
data of the cpu
Q9000
Minimum/Maximum power dissipation ? 16.54 Watt (Deeper Sleep mode) / 74.35 Watt
Thermal Design Power ? 45 Watt
V core ? 0.9V - 1.25V
Processor operates at 0.85 Volt - 1.1 Volt in Low Frequency mode
T9900
Minimum/Maximum power dissipation ? 16.54 Watt (Deeper Sleep mode) / 57.07 Watt
Thermal Design Power ? 35 Watt
V core ? 1V - 1.25V |

seeing you would be going from 2 cores @ 3.06GHz to 4 cores @ 2.0GHz
what software would you be using on the lappy? |
it is like extreme sport
if Q9000 work
then X9100 is possible
the lenovo site's data is not update
it say SL400 support only 4 G totally (2+2)
but actually 8G ram (4+4 )is fine
and T9900 is not mentioned by the lenovo site.it does work.
i plan to try Q9000 because it is possible to get one around 60-70 USD here
and my current CPU is T5870(2G )
another question is cpu not recognized by the bios
however , i think it can be overcome by adding microcode to bios |
