I recently purchased a lot of old PCs and discovered a pentium II that was doubled stamped. The top stamp had the country of origin being "MALAY" while the bottom stamp had "Philippines". Because of the nature of the overlaying, I am not really able to make out any of the serial numbers except the part number which, on the top is SL2U7 while on the bottom it looks like its SL264.

Can anyone help a newbie on this forum out? I'd be interested in information on the error and potential value. Thanks.

That would be a fake, not entirely uncommon, but sounds like not a great one (some are harder then others to spot)

so they remarked a Klamath core 233 to a Deschutes core 450

very unusual Confused

if they are the 2 sSpecs.. then maybe a poor fake job
as the are from 2 different P2 core families

and pic would help decide

Wow... thanks for the information, although it brings new questions.

Where did people do this and how did it get into a accredited and fairly good university?

I've attached some photos. Sorry about the quality. They were taken on an iPod 4th Gen.

disregarding the markings underneath showing.. the top markings are very good
but the original processor has been faked/remarked

the most obvious mistake is the shape of the 8s and a few other things

generally fakers sandblast the old markings off before engraving new ones
