I have an Acer Aspire m5200 with a triple core processor, 8 gigs of ram, Nvidia GTS450 video card, the computer has become more unstable, the critical event being that the power simple cuts out often, that was why I originally replaced the power supply, (600watts). I do run many apps at the same time and I first thought it could be a video card issue but I now feel the problem is more fundamental. Any suggestions to a way forward and where can I find where fan1-2 and so on link too, and why should they be showing 0rpm's

Running SpeedFan 4.46 I have these readings.

Fan1 14rpm GPU: 104F >> Running fine
Fan2 3229rpm Temp1: 187F >> Running hot
Fan3 0rpm Temp2 113F >> Marginally running hot
Fan1 4470rpm Temp3 120F >> Marginally running hot
Fan2 884rpm HD0 109F >> Running fine
Fan3 0rpm Temp1 185F >> Running hot
Fan4 0rpm Core 168F >> Running hot
Fan5 0rpm No reading

I have upgraded the power supply a couple of times, I may have messed up with the cabling, in any case, can someone give me a way to go forward.

It could be that you don't have a good air flow in you case, too small maybe, or in the bios you set the target temperature too low and it cuts out the power as soon as the temp is too high. Or the PSU is cutting because it's running too hot for insufficient air flow.... blablabla

Maybe you didn't place the heatsink well enough...

I agree, I was just listing the readings for "speedfan", when I first got the computer I added some modifications, new video card, upgraded the power supply and so on, (I did not upgrade or touch the heatsink/fan). Was fine for a year or so, I have noticed that the computer runs louder now, so the fans have to work harder. But the issue that has changed is that even with just Mass Effect 2 running it can crash. Most recently when I was doing a video conversion. Using task manager I do note that the triple core is maxing out at 100% so is it possible that it is locking up, and the core itself is running hot, I am thinking buying a better heatsink/fan, if so, any suggestions on a brand/model.
