It should be the sample chip from one China government project and done by HARBIN Institute of Technology. _________________ **********************

I split this off to stop a full discussion in the vintage finds thread
Hugo, do you have a picture of the markings on the underside?
One possibility is an electronics firm has remarked the processor after retesting the processor. _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

I also think that this chip has chinese origin.
Seems that they have also copied whole range of MCS86 CMOS peripheral chips as LC82Cxx. From http://www.dtic.mil/cgi-bin/GetTRDoc?Location=U2&doc=GetTRDoc.pdf&AD=ADA358871 the copying attempt is made as early as 1988:
| Quote: | LSI/VLSI Analysis System—HICAS, a "32-bit supermicrocomputer LSI/VLSI analysis system with automatic graphical montage functions" recently perfected by Harbin University, is China's first independently developed IC chip analysis system with high-precision, high-speed image and graphics processing functions for a 32-bit supermicrocomputer (the
Micro VAX II is used as the host computer). Features include image
processing and correction, graphical editing, image and graphics montage,
an integrated automatic/interactive pattern extraction, pattern verification,
and various data interfaces. It is intended for precise
extraction of pattern data for LSI chips with a characteristic size
of 2-3 microns. After verification, the pattern data can be directly
put into a PG tape for mask making, or can be passed on to CV, MCV,
and other machines. The process is easily adaptable to CAD systems for
pattern verification, processing, and redesign. The system can also
extract units or structural modules of VLSI chips with a characteristic
size of 1-2 microns. The manufacturing unit, which has already
employed the system for the C4517C MOS LSI-chip mask-making project of Plant 691, is currently cooperating with Institute 771 in developing
circuit copies of the 80C86 CPU, the largest project of its kind in
the Seventh 5-Year Plan. Specialists at the recent accreditation at
Harbin University agreed that this system will greatly improve the
design and pace of development of LSI and VLSI components in China.

It is definitely non-soviet/russian chip.
Mezon produced i3002 clones. But its equipment was not able to produce 8086. All the more its CMOS version. _________________ My Want List: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22729
