Hi!

Something I'm missing is a some kind of "one stop" catalog with pictures of ALL KNOWN cpus. All variants, all sspecs, all markings, voltage, speeds, other variations. What is there to collect? Whats missing in my collection? Is this new cpu rare? Has someone else got it, or can i brag about it at cpu-world.com? Wink Today i perhaps have to browse through 10+ sites to find some one whit the same cpu as me. A part of collecting (at least for me) is to have those rare ones.

At first it would be pictures and perhaps model and speed. Not a encyclopedia which i think gshv got right here.

My first thought where to download all known pictures and create a catalog offline, but then, why not do it online so that everyone can use (and contribute to)

I have access to a "no traffic limit" site with plenty of disk. A suitable domain will be registered if all goes well.

But the biggest catch is... the pictures. My collection and pics are just a small fraction of whats out there.

What do you collectors here with own websites (cpu-world.com,cpushack.net,abc-cpu.com,cpu-museum.de,cpu-collector.com and so on) think of it? Is it possible to use your pictures? There will of course be a reference to your site. (No pictures without owner permission)

Other collectors who has great collections with rare cpus, but not online? Could you supply me with scanned pictures of missing cpus?

At this stage, just some loud thinking...

Has someone else done this and i just missed it? Would you use it? Just plain crazy?

/Thomas

I also think a site like this is handy:

In the next days, I will post a link to my website here.
It is not completely finished, there are still some bugs (lot of php inside...)

I list almost all x86 I know. Today, I have listed more than 1400 different x86.

I made this to know exactly what cpu could be missing in my collection, and what will be not the finality (because there is no finality) but the future of my collection...

I think it can approach what you're talking about cpuswe, but there are only pictures of my cpus (so less than 1/3 of cpus listed have photo)

I'm also grabing all pictures I can found (on auction, on forums) of rare x86, for my personnal information (not published on my website).

Coming soon...

bloody hell

if you are that serious Mixuer , your time may be better spent approaching manufacturers. It's probably a question they have an answer to, or can direct you to.

Start with Intel of course.

Thanks John!

Not sure...
I've asked for release date of AMD pre-486 chips on the AMD Cpu Forum, and none from AMD was able to answer me.
I think it will be more difficult to find people who have informations than searching on the web...
Moreover, I think my listing job is 70-80% complete.
But I don't list different steppings. Just different cpus (different speeds, fsb, cache, packages, logos, features, manufacturing process and combinaisons of everything of this)

lol Smile

I love having completed a family then discovering a variant by chance.... or just a completely new type that I haven't heard of before. well. Basically. By listing the final possability of all of my / everyones collection. It will spoil some of the mystery for me.
