Some weeks ago, I won this chip from an ebay sale at a very low price, but I have no idea of
what it could be... CPU, DSP, Gate Arrays... perhaps some kind of custom marking.

Any idea?

possibly a ST18 series SIX-CHANNEL DOLBY AC3/MPEG2 AUDIO DECODER

Production parts came in a 160PQFP, but they likely had diff versions, a dev versions

I think it's a DSP. ST made ST189xx series of DSP processors. ST18942 is mentioned here:
