Hi guys, recently I noticed on task manager that my CPU wasn't going past 10% usage under load (playing BF3) and running a stress test on it. Also max speed is 1.37 even though in WEI and BIOS it shows that max speed is at 3.6 and current speed is 3.6 too. Any help? I only get 10-20 fps on most games with 2 7950's due to this...

Specs:
Crosshair V formula z BIOS 1302
FX 8150 @ stock
1000 W NZXT PSU
Corsair 16gb dominator
x2 ASUS 7950
Corsair H80 cooler

how are your temperatures?? It could be thermal throttling back if it detects an overheat condition.. Also check the power options in Windows control panel, make sure it is set to the "high performance" plan..

power option is high and temps are lowwwwww since its not doing much work. I reinstalled win 8 to no avail and also reset BIOS settings but the multiplier doesnt change from 7 no matter what it says in the BIOS

i would say that it's throttling to keep from heat damage. load up core temp or speed fan and report your tempatures under load please.

AMD FX-8150 with Corsair H80

stock
idle- 7-12c
load- 28-36c

x21 multiplier
idle-24-29c
load- 39-46c (when folding at 100% load)

this was in another post. it seems your tempatures may be reading wrong. have you experienced any blue screens or random restarts?

Temps are definitely being read wrong, unless you are outside in the snow Smile

it seems like it's a bad chip (rare as water in hell), or there may be some sort of software has your cpu locked at a low multiplier. i would try completely uninstalling CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and see what cpu-z says after a restart. if that fix's the issue than i would be careful with the settings in CCC. if not than there might be another cause. but this would be the place to start. the final round would consist of you reinstalling your os to wipe out any software conflict.

if all else fails then i would try to get the chip replaced, but replacing a chip would be my last resort option.

also as a side note you might try restoring your BIOS to it's default settings even if they are already at default.
