bacterio is right, its impossible for a geode to run at over 333MHz, it doesnt have the Bus ID pins to support that high of a multiplier. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Yes, hopefully they will arrive fast. |

I won't argue that there arent any known legit ones running over 333mhz, but shouldnt it be possible for the chip to run at whatever multiplier it wants?
As I recall, some 486s, K5s, winchips, etc had 'internal multipliers' to reach their rated speeds.. the motherboard would be set for 2x and the chip would read that as 4x or something?
So it should be possible for a geode to have been realeased that did that to run over 333mhz, even though none did? |

Remember that the maxium speed of the cyrix mediagx and geode technology is 333Mhz. |
OK lets try this again
Are you saying that the "Gxm-366gp mmx Cyrix GX Media" does not existe???
OK so, whats this then

you know what. I'm willing to bet it does exist. Why would a geode be faked like that? _________________ 4000+ chips.

You know something, I do understand that "all markings " are not to be trusted.
But what I do know is the CPU in my pic above(the one in my hand!!!) is not fake
In conclusion, there must have been at some point in time, In whereever area, someone that made some samples or something.
I paid big bucks for it, and to me it was worth it! |

It is genuine fake.
Especially since it says Cyrix, and by the time the speed was up to 300, the Cyrix brand had been sold to VIA, thus why you dont see Geodes
for example
http://www.cpushack.net/chippics/Cyrix/MediaGX/CyrixGXm-300GP-29V-60C.html
Is a fake, I tested it, it runs at 200, thats it.
http://www.cpushack.net/chippics/Cyrix/MediaGX/CyrixGXm-433GP-29V.html another fake, at 433 no less lol.
http://www.cpushack.net/chippics/Cyrix/MediaGX/CyrixGXm-366GP29V.html also a fake, and with a early 9945 datecode no less.
What the markings on the back of yours?
and yes, they fake geodes as well.
http://www.cpushack.net/chippics/NationalSemi/NatSemiGXm-366GP-29V.html
I have talked to a couple people AT national Semi, and none of them knew of any geode over 333MHx
Why would people fake these is beyond me, I have seen Pentium 75's remarked at MediaGX's
The MediaGX is the most faked CPU of our time. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Allright look!
All I'm saying is :yes I know they stopped at 333mhz, but with what I have in my hand too, seems to be a possibility that someone made samples or something.Like everyone says, "what would be the point of faking this CPU"?
And know I haven't fired-up the chip to see if it works! I don't have an old board collecting dust in my closet !But when I fine one, I'll try it |

I'm not saying anything to go on either side, but I think they fake cpu's at faster speeds to sell them for more money to the unsuspected buyer. Possibility? |

Ya, ok I'll swallow that possibility, I guess you can never know for sure with industries |

You know , I never thought of this but, maybe they are not "fakes" but "misprints"!!!
It's kinda like a coin that got misproduced or something? |

Well, how much did you paid for that "misprint" cpu ???
Seems it is a large amount of money because you don't want to believe it is a fake... |
