I bought this two ES(?) last month.

Just wondering what the purpose of the Classic Pentiurm for? Seem that there is not the cpu die but the L2 cache.

nice grab Billy Smile

the Pro is a 256k version probably produced around week 49 - 51 1995
Q0868 or Q0874 the likely qSpecs it would of been if had been marked

The cache chip in socket 5 package is a strange one.. but it is 256k at least.
Intel did use this package for later cache controllers, but I haven't seen cache in this package

Not sure if they were trying to produce an additional cache chip for the Pro or produce a chip
to replace the 10 x 82492/82493 chips used in Pentium server systems for the 256k cache
or just use this package to test different cache dies

My first ES bought from scrap lot, nice experience (esp. recent ES price is quite high).

For the PPro, its die is bigger than normal and has the same size with Pentium 60/66, (left is Pentium 60, right is the PPRO).

For the Classic Pentium, to my surprise, Pentium 60/66 bottom plate fits the size.

Is it possible the testing chip for 82498?

Thanks for your comment. I will try to find one spare 82497/82498 to open the bottom plate to compare the cache size.

82497/82498 are Cache controllers.. not Cache

82493 cache was only 128k.. not sure if Intel put into production a 256k chip
