Chaps - take a look. To me it looks very like a 486DX-100 die shot although the part number does not tie up with what I can find on the net. The part number on this wafer is 6010A - any ideas what it might be? I will have a few of them for sale once I have positively identified it.

Offered to members first before eBay gets a bite!!

Nice!

Im in for one if the price is right.

CS34TC seems to refer to the manufacturing process CS-34. It could be that this is a Am5x86 if you read regarding CS-34 being 0.35 micron process.

Those CPU dies can't be Am5x86 CPUs because they don't have the larger 16 KiB cache. Check chip 31 in Fotoopa's inside collection (http://www.pbase.com/fotoopa/inside) to see Am5x86 die with the larger cache.

I think this is some kind of test wafer for CS-34 manufacturing process because it has many different chips and also some unused space. I expect production wafers to have all the available space used for one chip type, and at least there wouldn't be any unused areas.

Some of the dies look like memore chips there, and they should be useful for testing. Using 486 CPU dies for testing makes sense because AMD has manufactured them with several different processes before and they give useful information about process reliability and properties like possible clocks, voltages and power for CPUs compared to older processes. After this testing with 486 cores they can improve the design and process to make better Am5x86 CPUs.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to better die shots of those 0.35 micron 486 dies that perhaps aren't used in any sold 486 CPUs. Please compare their size to the DX2 and DX4 ones you have and if they are smaller, then you'll know that they are 0.35 micron ones. Anyway, these test wafers are really rare and interesting, so you're really lucky to have them.
