I have no information on this part. It has a copyright of 2011, so it's not Sandy Bridge-E/Sandy Bridge-EP. It could be Ivy Bridge-EP processor.

I have two that were given to me unused that I am trying in a production W2600CR2 board.

Maybe the bios currently on the board no longer supports them? Could buy a retail CPU and downgrade the bios and try again?

The person who gave them to me says they come with a S2600CP4 board....

The only difference in CPU support between the two is E5-2648L & E5-2658 which the W2600CP2 does not support... so chances are they are one of those?

Board requires a minimum of one 1066, 1333 or 1600mhz ECC Registered or Unbuffered DIMM

I have a 2Gb 1333Mhz ECC Registered DIMM in slots A1 and B1

Tested and non-working with Intel W2600CR2 and S2600CP4 boards...

Any other suggestions?

QDNR is a 10-core Ivy Bridge EP Xeon.

It is an ES2 generation, which means it does not correspond to a final SKU, but has a slightly lower clock than what is going to be the shipping silicon.

It works in W2600CR2 board but you need to have the BIOS which has support for Ivy Bridge ES2 CPUs. This BIOS does exist but it is not available for public download. Otherwise it will not POST as you figured out already.

You should ask the contact who provided you with the CPUs to also provide you with the beta BIOS for Intel W2600CR2 with Ivy Bridge EP support.

Other than that, Z9PE D8 WS from ASUS supports Ivy Bridge EP CPUs with the BIOS #5004. However, I only tested the QS sample, I don't know if ES2 samples work correctly.
