|
|
Hi to everyone, i'm new on the forum but have some experience on the art of building a pc so i arrive here on the hopes someone can help me out.
I have a samsung notebook with a a70m chipset and a6-4400m processor and so i bought a a10-4600m to replace it i striped down the laptop change the processor and happily put it the way it was but when i turn it on oh surprise it stays on for a couple of minutes without the screen turning on and then it shuts down.
So i was wondering if it is that the laptop does not take the new apu or if it is a faulty apu.
BTW the bios is updated to the last version dating january 2013.
Any help would be appreciated. |

| it is a samsung np355v4c-a02mx and i am not completely sure it is supported i mean i read about some other guys with similar samsung notebooks (same chipset, processor) and they were able to make the switch but i spoke to samsung support on my country and they told me they will not tell me if i can because of partnerships and so. |

i could not find any information on that laptop besides the processor it currently has in it. i did some look ups on this site and found that the A6 is a dual core and the A10 is a quad core. there is a good chance that your problem lies in how many cores your particular chipset is restricted to. which would explain why you see some people making the switch and others such as yourself just simply can't.
keep in mind i am not hands on with your laptop so i can't give you 100% undeniable answers to what is going on but it sounds like your laptop is refusing to play nice with it's shiny new toy because of restrictions samsung has put on the laptop's apu support.
there is also a chance of the problem being with the gpu support rather than the cpu part of the processor. as the steppings between the 2 processors i looked at were the same, as were the thermals. i would have to go down the list and say it's a gpu support problem or a number of cores support problem.
i personally don't care for laptops because the range of processor and graphics support is so minimal it's just ridiculous.
if anyone else has any ideas of any neat little tricks this person could try to get the 2 components to play nice, please feel free to share opinions. |
