NEC VRC4173 companion chip its co-processor?

Hello,
I found NEC VRC4173 companion chip. Its possibly collect this as co-processor? Or its chipset or I/O chip only? This also include keyboard controller (but I dont know from which KBS is compatible). Old I/O includes 8042 or newer MCU compatible cores.
