How do some of you collectors with large or valuable collections insure your CPU collection? For home owners insurance, if your collection is destroyed in a fire, their policy is to replace the lost item with a new equivalent replacement, which is totally useless in this case. If you want to insure the real value of your collection, you need to get it officially appraised. Have any of you done this or found someone to officially appraise your collection to the satisfaction of your insurance company?

I am not sure if they insure worldwide but USA for certain.

Two well-known companies that insure collections are: American Collectors Insurance http://collectibles.about.com/od/valuableresources/a/collectiblesinsurance_2.htm and Collectibles Insurance Services, LLC. http://collectibles.about.com/od/valuableresources/a/collectiblesinsurance_3.htm The companies offer similar products from different insurance companies. The few small differences in the policies will help you make the decision on which one is the best fit for you and your collection.

I asked my agent and he is willing to include it by my named amount in my "Hausrat-Versicherung". Thatbis the one that covers furniture, clothes, CDs etc inside the house. Just single items with more than 10.000 € value have to be extra declared.
