happens more then people think, manufacturers (remember its not made by Toshiba, but by a contractor like pegatron or Quantus) cut costs where they ca, if that means building and shipping with ES chips they have? then they do it

Very likely to not be made by Toshiba, just like Apple laptops are not made by Apple, and Dell is rarely made by Dell etc

Bigs ones are
Foxconn
Pegatron (formerly Asus)
Wistron (spun out from Acer)
Quanta (they many for HP) - largest ODM in the world
Compal (they make Dell, Toshiba, etc)

They are called ODMs (original design manufacturers )

think it is actually a 8251A USART Universal Synchronous/Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter

X2816AD should be the lot code.. X for USA development lab
