Hi, I've just installed a new cpu on my PC, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40 GHz. I created a topic before, and two members told me that changing my fan was not necessary, given that I had a Pentium 4 3.40 GHz.

I'm getting relatively high temperatures: According to blackbox, core 1 and 2 are at 55C running a streaming in Chrome, then I open another video in another tab and it climbs to 77C. Same stream plus a flickr tab: 66C

I'm really worried about it guys. What can the problem be? Are those temperatures something to worry about?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, 3.00 GB of RAM, I didn't change my fan, 149 GB Hard Drive, I applied the gray grease that came along with the CPU.

Thank You.

Those temps do sound high for streaming video and/or playing movies. They shouldn't have high CPU usage so I wouldn't expect temps even in the 60s.

did you put fresh heatsink grease on the cpu before you reapplied the heatsink?? also make sure all 4 of the locking pegs are fully engaged and pressed down.. Sounds like no grease or the heatsink isn't seated.

Well, one of the four screws that lock my heatsink and fan is not well engaged, should it be the problem?

I think its very much the case of four screws of your heatsink fan not well attached you should try attaching them properly my processor also had high temperatures and then i also realized my fan was not properly attached i properly reattached it and it worked for me.
