|
|
the mobo i got is in the title and i just bought the cpu listed in the title. now im almost positive a bios update is what is required to get this chip to work on my mobo.
ive confirmed that i am using the initial bios release for my mobo. and i think i read there are 6 or 7 revisions higher. and the next one high says "supports amd athlon xp" so i really need to update the bios! my current version of bios is ak31s2e9. thats the initial release. and as far as i can tell, the most up to date bios for this board is ak31s2ei.
i did find that file online, from some obscure chinese website. because i think shuttle no longer exists? there website domain is up for sale.
so i tried using a boot img with the bios update on it, but whenever i go to type the name in at the prompt, i get the message "err create1" i get to the command prompt, switch from A: to Z: then type the update name, and thats the message i get. also tried winflash, and when i try that it says "BIOS file size doesnt match mainboard BIOS"
im at a loss here. i have no floppy drive, and no option for removeable media in my boot options, so i have to use a CD. maybe the bios update file is bad? but i cannot find it anywhere else on the internet!
help pls!!! |

thanks! the guy at shuttle that i emailed told me the latest bios for my board too.
so i make a bootable cd-rom, put that file on, boot into dos, switch to z: and type in the bios update file name, and i get "err create1" message.
anyone know what that means? any ideas?
thanks. |

You need also program to flash your bios. You need also extract bios file from archive. (eg. AK31S2EK.BIN)
Download utility to flash BIOS from here:
http://download.shuttle.eu/Archive_2004/BIOS/utility/ Look at your BIOS if is Award or AMI and use appropriate utility. _________________ Looking For Chips 386 J38605DX, Symphony FPU, Rise Tiger, MP6-II, Winchip 3&4, IDT C6-Early Logo, Nx686, Tesla 8088, L80C86, Bulgarian 8088, Pentium 4 QT69ES. |

that worked guys, thanks! my bios is now at the most updated version.
unfortunately my new AMD Athlon XP 2400 (AXDA2400DKV3C) does not seem to work in it. just sits there on a blank screen..
the latest amd athlon xp that the bios revision history says it supports is the 2100+.. maybe i should of checked that b4 i bought the 2400+, but someone else on this board assured me it would work
unless there is something i can do to make it work? |

| Your MB don't support Athlon XP T-Bred CPUs (es. AXDA2400DKV3C), only Athlon XP Palomino CPUs (and fast is AX2100DMT3C) |
