so basically the CPU is running at 1300 Mhz instead of 1700, roughly. I checked CPU-Z, and it confirms im running at 1300.60 Mhz, 13.0 multiplier.

things ive tried are setting multiplier to 12 and fsb to 133, as well as 13 and 133(what it should be). and when i do either, the system locks up at the windows xp loading screen, and i end up having to reset the cmos to get it to boot.

working with a Shuttle AK31 V3.1, fully updated bios to support this CPU. brand new hsf, which works great. 5500 RPM.

is there a jumper or switch or something im missing?

heres some info from CPU-Z. CPU info first, then chipset info, then memory. any other info you need to help me just let me know!

thanks!

Your FSB is wrong. The 2100+ uses a 133FSB to achieve ~1700MHz. Your FSB appears to currently be 100MHz, that's why the chip is clocked at 1300MHz.

but anyway, i managed to FINALLY get it working. im in fail-safe mode @130 fsb and 13.0 multiplier. and had to turn the core voltage by +0.50 and it hasnt crashed yet. i tried MULTIPLE combination to finally boot past the windows xp screen and into windows itself...

my current numbers: 1.808V, 1696.49Mhz, 46 degrees celcius. its actually saying 339.28x5.0 in Core Temp...and on startup, in POST, it is saying amd athlon xp 2000+.. instead of 2100+.

would like to get it to 2100+ at least and im gonna try optimized defaults now, with my same frequency settings.

any tips would be cool.

got optimized defaults on now Smile but to get 131 fsb to boot up, had to increase voltage one more time from .075 to .100.

temp = 49
speed = 1703.25

and managed to keep memory voltage the same. so successful upgrade from 950 Mhz duron i guess. took some hours, but it is def a nice improvement.

now to see if i can get my 2400+ to work... hmmm...

The correct vCore voltage is supposed to be 1.75V. If you "increased it by 0.5v" and then added another 0.1 to get to 1.8, you were running that chip WAY below it's rated vCore, and thats probably why you couldn't get it to run at a 133FSB. A 1.3V vcore would explain the quirkiness.

oh. so i should keep the vcore at 1.75volts? isnt that the default? i had to mess with the voltages alot to even get it to boot. trust me, when i first started playing with the numbers, i left all the voltages at default, and just put the multiplier at 12, then 13, and kept the fsb at 133, and it wasnt even making it past POST...

oh and it still isnt perfect. im having freezes all the time. but the cpu temp has not gone above 52. core voltage right now is 1.760. x13 multiplier and 129 fsb... lowering the fsb seems to be the only way to keep this hunk of crap PC running. :/

any ideas? memory voltages maybe? mine are all default at 2.50 right now. down to 1678.88 Ghz.. Sad
