Hello, I'm doing a small upgrade (nothing fancy) for my kids pc.
They play alot of Minecraft.
Currently got a Intel Core Duo E2160 / 2.2 GHz.
Now I have a Pentium Dual-core E5300 2.6 ghz
I'm assuming just by the GHZ variations, the second is better. But is it
really better? I mean, is it worth the upgrade for a slight up in ghz, or is there more to it then that?
Thank you in advance. |

E2160 is actually one of the slowest among Core 2 Duo: 1.8GHz, only 1Mb L2 cache.
E5300 is much faster, 2.4GHz and 2Mb cache.
And the second is made in 45 nm technology,
output heat should be around the same with old one,
no need to change the cooler!
Summary - go for it! |

But make sure your m/b is compatible to the Pen.
Also, since C2Ds are also not that expensive I'd rater go for a C2D e.g. E8400
BTW. Mods, please move it to the Modern CPU section _________________ Check out my museum project with more than 1500 CPU pics: http://www.cpumuseum.jimdo.com/ |

If you go to E8xx make sure your mobo have fsb 1333 setting (333 real).
Otherwise it would be slower than E5300 (multiplier 9 vs 13). |
