I've just sent to scrap some faulty CD ROMs/DVDs/CDrws...
This chips looked nice and took a moment for a pic before send them to scrap Smile

Very nice mediaTek collection. A few in there i dont have
Most all of those (maybe all but data is real hard to find) are 80C31 based

You can find all sorts of microcontrollers in CD/DVD drives. Mediatek the most common but also Hitachi H8, Panasonic and Toshiba

if you want some of them i can give you... but they are not fine unsoldered.. i pulled them with screwdriver ..basically i cut all the legs....

In some old optical drives I found AMD Am186 chips Smile

CD? I find one on FDD drive or maybe it was CD...no I'm almost sure it was FD. Smile
