I have one that I broke yesterday - you can have a bit of it for a die shot if you like? |

Would love to. My photo equipment is not ready yet, you could send it to Birdman too as I'm not sure if he has the shrinked version of R4400 yet.

OK - PM me with both of your addresses and I will send off a bit each - I also have some other broken wafer prices too that I will send when I get time. _________________ best rgds.

And the dies shot is exactly an R4400 so I think Aberco is correct on this.

Yes, that's the smallest and likely latest R4400 die version I've seen so far. I have an early NEC chip waiting at AVICC in addition to the later shrinked NEC I've already photographed, so comparing this version to them will be interesting. I'm wondering how fast this shrinked core could run compared to larger versions.

R4400 went up to 250MHz, but most common are NEC and Toshiba parts. IDT R4400 are rather rare (they concentrated on the R4600).

I found this on the die and also a nice little Daffy Duck head which I cannot get a clear shot of - This seals this die as MIPS R4400 for sure.... _________________ best rgds.
